COMPETITION – 1ST PRIZE | 2001

The aim of this project was to preserve as much as possible the views and sunlight of the buildings behind the site, as well as to fit comfortably in the site’s very complicated topography.

The proposed scheme is composed by three buildings displaced in plan, comprising Ground floor + 4 storeys, both in the façade looking onto Josep Jové street as well as the one looking onto the park, although displaced in section. The buildings are sitting on the site’s slope, which in turn allows the car park to be all in one level.

Each building has four units per floor, serviced by a single stair and lift core. Half of those units are facing south, looking out directly onto the park, and the other half have an east-west orientation, opening onto the urban spaces created between the blocks.

The general layout of the scheme (in a comb like shape) has an added bonus: the creation of three small squares between the buildings which act as privileged viewing points onto the park. Three staircases linking the buildings to the Parc de la Riera allow a comfortable access to the park from these new squares.
